To kick off this installment of the best of GaryVee, we’re going to start with The article “How to Make Your Product Go Viral Without Any Marketing”. Gary begins by saying that Sriracha is the best example of word of mouth advertising. The hot sauce brand is known by most people not from TV ads or social media but rather by word of mouth as most people have heard about Sriracha from people who’ve tried it.  He says word of mouth influence as it’s also called is an amazing way to get your product out there when you’re marketing a small business.

Gary says that today, social media is the “plumbing” to the word of mouth in our society, creating word of mouth advertising. If you create a great product and can get people to “taste it”, there’s a great opportunity for your name to spread on its own. Gary goes on to say that if your product is good enough to entice people to talk about, you can most certainly win in this day and age.

In the article “Number One Waste of Time? Trying to Convert Your Customer” Gary begins by saying that effective selling should be any business’s number one priority even though it may not be that obvious to everyone. He continues to say that he’s often asked how to take someone from “maybe” to “yes”. Gary says he doesn’t try to win people over and that he spends zero time trying to convince people to believe what he believes in. He says business owners should be more focused on selling to customers rather than selling to people who aren’t customers at all. He advises applying your time to where there is “fertile ground” instead of talking and talking to people who are never going to help you out.
