We hope everyone had a great weekend and has success in everything you do this new work week! To kick off the first installment of the best content coming from our friend Gary Vaynerchuk, we’re going to start with his article “Why leaders need to focus on how they treat employees”.

Gary begins by saying that he often speaks about what he thinks it takes to be a good leader and a greater boss. However, something he doesn’t speak of often enough he says is how to transition into the role of a leader. Gary says you simply cannot impose your will because you’re suddenly the boss. He goes on to explain that there will be lots of times when you’ll need to swallow your pride and do what’s best for the team. This means empowering those around you to do their jobs as well as being able to take the blame now and then. Gary says that when it’s all said and done, you are the one who needs to be willing to accept responsibility for your successes and your failures. He also states that showing empathy is necessary when needed. In the end, it all comes down to self-esteem and self-awareness. If you can understand who you truly are as a leader, they you can instill the same understanding in those on your team.

In his video “How Relevant Will Email Be in Five Years?” Gary is asked by a Twitter follower his opinion on how relevant email will be in 3 to 5 years. Gary says that he believes email is far from dead and that in fact it’s a “killer app”. He said that email is an open platform that you can control and use for marketing to your audience. He goes on to say that he believes email will matter in 3 to 5 years as he doesn’t think it’s going anywhere. He does say however that he believes in 3 to 5 years it will be less valuable of a marketing channel. Why? Because as he often says ‘marketers ruin everything’ meaning that platforms come along, provide value, marketers use them and then consumers draw back or don’t respond.
