The Single Most Important Thing You Can Do Keep Your New Venture out of the Startup Graveyard

If you had to name the one thing you should be doing to help your new business succeed, what would you say? Would your answer be to work 24/7 in order to get a step ahead of the competition? Or would you say that you should invest as much money and time as possible into your online marketing strategy? Maybe you’d say that pumping out content like a machine is what it takes to make a new business succeed. While those things can certainly help, they cannot hold a candle to (and even when combined) to the absolute most important thing you can do to help your new business succeed. So what is it then? It’s simple: Taking action.  Being proactive is by far the most important thing you can do to help you startup succeed. Let’s take a look at a few reasons why.

Action is the Key to Success

You can do all positive thinking you’d like, study books and attend webinars that teach you how to succeed in business but none of these things will ever substitute for taking action. The fact is that you cannot actually gain any real knowledge, perspective and insight until you actually try the things you learn about. Only then can you begin to gain a good understanding of the subject at hand. If you’re serious about seeing your new business succeed which you should be, you need to never, ever let a single day pass without being proactive in getting your message out to your target market. If you do this with consistency every single day, your efforts will pay off. Our friend Gary Vaynerchuk says “Hustle is putting every minute and all your effort into achieving the goal at hand”.

Action Reigns Over Everything

While everyone and their brother are searching high and low for the “secret” to success, the real hustlers simply continue to put forth effort. If you adopt the practice of focusing each day on getting something done so your business moves forward, you’ll be unstoppable as you work hard at getting your new venture to succeed.

Ideas Alone Cannot Bring Success

While ideas are important, they are of value only when they’ve been put into action. One so-so idea that has been put into action is far more valuable than one hundred amazing ideas you are saving for the “right time”. The next time you get a good idea that you believe in, don’t store it away but do something about it instead. Any idea that is not put into action is a completely worthless one.

Getting Busy Now and Not Later Is How to Succeed

The chances are that you sat down today in front of your computer to do some business-related work only to find yourself checking Facebook, reading the news and seeing what the weather has in store for your area. When you’re constantly distracted, you’re wasting a whole lot of time and money you could be spending on making your business grow. Get in the habit of jotting down a to-do list at the end of each work day that consists of things to get done tomorrow. Then when tomorrow comes, place that list in front of you and get the things done right away.

No new business is guaranteed to succeed and as Richard Branson says“there’s no guarantee that spending a huge amount of money on marketing will slingshot your business forward”. You need to be proactive now and make your own success because nobody’s going to do it for you.
